Anthony and William Engels
Primarily Minor League ballhawks, Anthony and William Engels (twins47) enjoy any chance they get to see Major Leaguers in action. The brothers from Draper, Utah spent a few days in the hot Arizona sun last week for a long-awaited opportunity to snag balls hit and thrown by big league stars.
The trip couldn't have gone any better. The pair combined for 38 balls, including 16 in a single game, and Anthony scored the biggest snag of the week by grabbing an Adam Everett foul ball.
The brothers functioned as a team throughout the week, and it was pure luck that Anthony happened to be the one to end up with the big foul ball. It happened at Goodyear Ballpark in their first game of the Spring, and the brothers were taking turns covering the grassy area in foul territory along the left field line. It was Anthony's turn in the seventh inning when Everett slapped one foul.
William watched the scene unfold. "Anthony was able to get a good jump on the ball and outrun four other people for the ball," he remarked.
Based on their steller Spring Training performance, the Engels brothers could be in for a huge year. Their primary ballhawking home is Brent Brown Ballpark in Utah, where last year they combined for 101 balls.
