Everytime Atlanta Ballhawk Matthew Hiett makes his way out to Turner Field, he camps out in a prime foul ball location -- section 119 down the right field line. "I have a friend that sits there every game in the top row," he said. "...so I simply join her and have great access to the field level walkway."
Using the walkway to race towards foul balls, Hiett has snagged 3 this season, most recently last Wednesday night. This one involved a little bit of skill and a little bit of luck. It happened in the 4th inning on a ball hit by Martin Prado.
"This ball was hit to my right and into the first row of the Terrace level," he said. "A fan got under it, but he was barehanded and I got in position on the walkway in case he dropped it. That's what ended up happening and I quickly dove on it."
It was his 27th ball of the season and 57th overall. Hiett's 3 foul balls this season in only 19 games are very impressive for a relatively new ballhawk.
