Jonesy67 Adds 8 Points in Photo Scavenger Hunt
Orioles' Fan Avi M Successfully Documents Back-to-Back-to-Back Home Runs
by Alan Schuster, July 22, 2010
Avi celebrates Ty Wigginton's homer on T-Shirt Tuesday at Camden Yards. For the first time since 1995, the Baltimore Orioles hit back-to-back-to-back home runs on Tuesday night in Baltimore, and ballhawk Avi M was in the left-center field bleachers to witness the offensive onslaught. He wasn't lucky enough to snag one of the home run balls, but he was able to do the next best thing -- add to his website-leading point total in the photo scavenger hunt. As Luke Scott rounded second base during his home run trot in the second inning, Avi's buddy Zevi snapped this photo of Avi cheering with the crowd. Good for 8 points, the photo increased his point total to 33, so far the highest recorded total. Just for good measure, Avi decided to repeat the photo again when Ty Wigginton went yard just a few minutes later. And to complete the trifecta , he got this photo when Adam Jones hit the O's third straight homer. Of course, each item on the scavenger hunt can only be used once so he didn't pick up any extra points, but it's really impressive to have documented all three homers in such a rare event. "Best night of baseball for me this season by far," he said. "Though only one ball, so much more happened." Avi was referring to the 4 hour, 38 minute battle between the Orioles and Rays that the Orioles won in the bottom of the 13th inning. Between the two teams, there were 21 runs, 25 hits, 7 home runs, and 13 pitchers used. Read more great stuff from Avi on his website, 2131AndBeyond.com
