Texas Ballhawk Earns Award After Snagging 296 Balls Including 32 Gamers

At this blistering pace he finished the season with an astounding 32 gamers, over five times greater than his nearest competitor on the myGameBalls.com Minor League site. Nelson, who also led the site with 296 total balls in 2011, was voted the website's first Ballhawk of the Year. A devoted fan of his hometown Hooks, he attended 77 games at their home ballpark, Whataburger Field, and snagged at least one baseball in all 77 games. Finishing second in the voting was Phil Joens, who put in an outstanding season with 200 total balls and an average of 9.52 balls per game. Here's the final tally of votes for Ballhawk of the Year:
