New York Ballhawk Earns Award With 503 Ball Season, 14 GamersThe 2015 Minor League Minor League Ballhawk of the Year, Takyi Chan.In what was most definitely his breakout season, New York ballhawk Takyi Chan eclipsed 500 balls on the Minor League circuit this season en route to being voted 2015 Minor League Ballhawk of the Year. Having never previously reached even 100 balls in a single season, Chan snagged more than five times his previous best season (96 last year), finishing with 503 balls in 41 games.
Chan's average of 12.27 balls per game went along with an array of very impressive statistics to give him one of the best single season performances in the history of myGameBalls.com. He led all MiLB ballhawks with 123 game balls, including 14 game home runs. His 22 double-digit games were also tops on myGameBalls-Minors, as was his single game high of 38. Chan's lifetime total now sits at 661, fifth on the all-time standings. He has also snagged 111 balls at Major League ballparks.
Chan received six first place votes, two second place votes, and two third place votes to finish the voting with 22 points. Coming in second place was lifetime snags leader Dan Nelson (14 points), who compiled another strong season with 197 balls and 33 game home run balls. Third place went to Alex Kopp (13 points), followed by Fred Spencer (8 points), and "Tom" (131 points). Here's the full results of the voting:
