Hample Voted Ballhawk of the Year
New York Ballhawk Earns Ballhawking's Highest Honor After Rewriting the Record Books in 2011
by Alan Schuster, November 10, 2011
After perhaps the greatest single season in ballhawking history, Zack Hample was overwhelmingly voted Ballhawk of the Year by the myGameBalls.com community. Earning his second Ballhawk of the Year award in the past three seasons, Hample received 24 first place votes and finished the voting with 75 points. Hample's 2011 stats have set almost unapproachable marks in several categories, most notably Total Balls (1,157), Games Attended (131), Double Digit Games (49), and Single Game High (36). He also snagged three game home run balls on the year including the first career homer from both Mike Nickeas and Mike Trout. To go with his three gamers he also snagged 21 foul balls and garnered national attention for snagging three foul balls in a single game at Camden Yards. Tim Anderson, this season's Junior Ballhawk of the Year, finished second in the BOY voting with 38 points, followed by last year's winner Erik Jabs who scored 35 points. Here's the final tally of votes:
