Alex K Finishes Huge Week With 200th Ball
Big Road Trip Includes Milestone Baseball, Ballhawk League Victory
by Alan Schuster, August 19, 2009
Fresh off his first ever foul ball, Alex K finished off an impressive week by snagging his 200th ball of the season and winning Week 19 of the Ballhawk League. The 38-ball week, marked by productive outings at the Metrodome and Miller Park, breaks down into 31 Thrown Balls, 3 Hit Balls, and 4 Device Balls. Alex averaged 7.60 balls per game during the week. Other than the foul ball, the highlight of the week was the 200th ball, which came during a 9-ball performance at Miller Park. The ball was originally thrown from Michael Bourn to Darin Erstad, but it tipped of Erstad's glove and rolled to the wall. "Nobody noticed the ball or picked it up," Alex wrote on his blog. "so I leaned over the wall, knocked it closer with my glove and grabbed my 4th ball of the day and No. 200 Lifetime. Not exactly the way I'd like to snag #200, but a ball is a ball." Alex has been remarkably consistent this season, snagging at least 3 balls in all 34 games. He also has an active streak of 19 games with at least 4 balls. His lifetime average of 6.03 balls per game is good for 2nd place on myGameBalls.com.
